Description

There are two methods for LogLogic LMI to collect log data from any source: streaming and file-based transfer. Streaming typically occurs using syslog but there are some exceptions. One exception is for Blue Coat Proxy logs. Blue Coat Proxies have two types of logs: system logs and access logs. System logs are collected using standard syslog but the Blue Coat access logs can only be collected via HTTP/S as a push or pull, so LogLogic LMI supports streaming over HTTP in order to support collecting access logs from Blue Coat Proxies. Ultimately, when the events are stored on the LMI appliance they are stored in files regardless of whether they were transmitted as files or individual events.
