Description

When migrating from an earlier Business Connect version to a new version, can the existing database schema (for old audit logs viewing) be used with a new database schema (for the latest configuration and transactions)?

Issue/Introduction

Use the old schema for audit viewing purpose only and the new schema for configuration and new audit logging.

Environment

All environments

Resolution

During database migration, the Business Connect configuration gets updated to the latest version without affecting any data under audit logs.

Please take note of the following points :

1. If using a new database at the time of migration, then point to the old database at audit level to view the data stored. This is for viewing purpose only and can be done from BusinessConnect -> Log Viewer -> Preferences -> Database Connections -> Audit

2. If using an existing database at the time of migration, except for the database schema under BusinessConnect -> System Settings -> Audit, Non-Repudiation and Runtime Database Configuration -> Audit tables, everything gets updated/recreated

3. When a database is migrated, only the configuration schema is recreated and not the audit schema. The existing audit logs will not be deleted

4. When we update audit tables, only the BC_AUDIT_VERSION table gets updated and not the transaction logs
