Spotfire Statistica 10.0 and above.

Description

Scenario:
 
- Statistica V10 is installed along with the V10 Hotfix.
- Wishing to upgrade to Statistica 12.x or to Statistica 13.x, V10 was uninstalled which left the V10 Hotfix still on the machine.
- Now, the removal of Statistica 12.x, or upgrade to Statistica  13.x via an upgrade installer, produces the following error:

Cause:  V10 hotfixes should be removed before installing any later releases. otherwise, installation will fail as the installer will not install Statistica unless all hotfixes or updates have been removed.

This article discusses the cause and fix for this Error: "Hotfixes have been detected. Please uninstall all hotfixes before uninstalling Statistica."

Environment

Windows operating systems only. V13.0, and later, will only install on Windows 7 or later OS.

RESOLUTION ONE
 
1. Re-install V10 Statistica
2. Do a repair install on the V10 hotfix (right-click then choose Repair in the Add/Remove Programs section of Windows)
3. Uninstall the hotfix for Version 10
4. Uninstall V10 Statistica
5. Install Statistica 12 or later

 

RESOLUTION TWO
 
If RESOLUTION ONE does not work, the follow message may appear when attempting to uninstall the V10 hotfix:
 

Assuming the state of the machine is as follows:

STATISTICA 10 installed
V10MR1 hotfix installed
STATISTICA 12 installed.
 
1. Export the following registry key for the 'stuck' hotfix to a temporary location. The registry key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\STATISTICA Hotfix

 

2. After exporting, delete this key
3. Uninstall STATISTICA V12 (or later) if present
4. Import the registry file you exported in the first step (do this by double-clicking the export file you created)
5. Open Programs and Features, right-click the Hotfix then choose "Repair" (It might ask to point to hotfix msi file at this point).
6. After the repair, uninstall the hotfix
7. Uninstall STATISTICA V10.
 
Note: A change has been made to the installer that should prevent this from happening in future versions (v12.6 and above).
