Issue/Introduction

A popup window with the error "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect" is seen when saving a Spotfire analysis file locally with the TIBCO Spotfire installed client.

Resolution

This issue occurs when saving an analysis file locally if the path where the analysis file (.dxp) is saved is longer than 256 characters. To be able to save the report, make sure to have a shorter title for the analysis or make sure the folder path is shorter, so that the combined file name and full path length is less than 256 characters.

Note: When saving the analysis file to the TIBCO Spotfire library, Spotfire truncates the title and removes any characters more than 256 from the file saved to the library.
