Description

When the user chooses to export tabular visualizations like Tables, Cross Tables, etc from the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player by right clicking on the visualization then choosing Export > Export Table, a CSV file is downloaded. When opening this CSV file in a program like Microsoft Excel, you may see an error like:
Sorry, we couldn't find folderpath\filename.csv. Is it possible it was moved, renamed or deleted?

This is because the path of the CSV file downloaded is too long for Excel to handle. Excel can't open with paths longer than 218 characters.

Issue/Introduction

This article explains how to resolve the issue where a CSV file exported from TIBCO Spotfire fails to open

Resolution

In order for the exported CSV file to be directly openable in Excel, you can rename visualization title so that it is not as long. The automatically generated dynamic titles can be long and can lead to this behavior. If the visualization title cannot be altered then just rename the downloaded CSV file after export so that its name is not as long, or export it to a location with a shorter path.
