When opening shapefiles from QGIS in TIBCO Spotfire client, you may get the error message "Invalid record length found":

With some export configurations, the resulting shapefile doesn't meet the expected ESRI standards. To resolve the issue, when exporting a PolygonZ file from QGIS, choose the geometry type Polygon (instead of automatic) and uncheck the "include z-dimension" option in the Geometry section.
