Description

On your Node Manager you can have services and service instances. For each service you install on the node, you select a capability (such as Web Player, Automation Services, or TERR service), and the number of instances for that service.

Issue/Introduction

The "Service" is a folder where the modules from the deployment area are downloaded. The "Service Instance" is the process that is running and executing.

Resolution

The Service is a folder containing configuration files where the modules from the deployment area downloaded and installed.

The Service instance is the process that is running and executing tasks.

A Resource Pool is set as default for a Service and this is what is shown when you create an Instance. Every instance can have different pool, but all instances under one service share the configuration files and deployment (thus - the same hotfix build).
