Description

Occasionally there is the need for a stand-alone desktop to point to a concurrent license server.   This usually is desired when several, over 50,  stand-alone desktops have already been installed, the licenses are near expiration, and it would take some time to uninstall and then re-install from the typical Workstation Installer 64 (or 32) folder on the server(see Concurrent Network License (CNET) installation steps).

Issue/Introduction

This article discusses how to make a desktop install point to a concurrent license manager.

Environment

Windows operating systems only. Pertains to desktop and concurrent licensing environments only.

Resolution

1.  Install the server part (see Concurrent Network License (CNET) installation steps) of a CNET install
2.  Install Statistica on one workstation from either the Workstation Installer 64 (or 32) folder, folders are located on the server (see again Concurrent Network License (CNET) installation steps)
3.  Replace each stand-alone stat.lic and Config.lic with the workstation stat.lic and Config.lic.    Location for both of these files are stored in the Statistica  application folder, Statistica <version #>, for example C:\Program Files\Statistica\Statistica 13\:
stat and Config location

The workstation install has a pointer license file, which points the concurrent license server.   The Config.lic from the workstation install has some additional information which instructs Statistica is it now using concurrent licensing.  Once the stand-alone Statistica stat.lic and Conflig.lic files are replaced with the workstation stat.lic and Config, it will function as a workstation checking out a license from the concurrent license server.
