Description
When an analysis file with linked data is saved in the TIBCO Cloud Spotfire library and is opened from TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® web clients, there may be a "Missing Data" error and the linked data cannot load. For example:
Some part of the data table "xyz" could not be loaded. A data source may be missing or has been changed.
Resolution
If an analysis file is created via TIBCO Spotfire Cloud Analyst client, and built upon data table(s) that are not embedded in the dxp file, but instead linked to data sources that are NOT accessible by the TIBCO Cloud Spotfire environment, such as:
Then then those linked data tables will not be able to load data when the report is opened in the TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® web client.
For a data connection to have the data updated when the report is opened the TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® web client:
- Ensure the data connection is based on a data source from the list Supported data sources in the TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® web client.
- Ensure the source database is accessible over the internet from the the IP addresses used by the TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire®. See Configuring access for the TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® web client in cloud data sources for the exact IP addresses for which access is required.
If the data is based on a data connection which is not found in the list of
Supported data sources in the TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® web client, or the data is based on a text or Excel file saved on a local or shared drive, then those data tables will need to be embedded in the analysis file when saving to TIBCO Cloud Spotfire Library to be accessible from the TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® web clients. The data will not be updated when the report is opened on the web client, but embedding the data table will allow the embedded data to be visible on the web client. This can be changed on the TIBCO Cloud Analyst Client under Edit > Data Table Properties > General > Store data: Embedded in analysis.
