Resolution

1. Here take a Statistica scatterplot as an example (PT_POOR vs. PT_RURAL from Statistica example dataset Poverty.sta). The default fitting function produced is Y = 13.3106+0.1371*x

2. Place mouse cursor on the graph outside background, right click and then select "Graph Options...".

3. In the Options dialog, click on "Fitting" under "Plot", choose "Custom Function" for "Fit Type:" option. Enter the custom function in the function text box, e.g. Y= 13.1 + 0.14*x

4. Click OK, the default fitting function in the graph will be replaced with the custom function specified .

Note:

"Plot" | "Fitting" options in the Graph Options dialog also include other commonly used predefined functions and smoothing procedures that can be used to fit to the data, e.g., Linear, Logarithmic, Exponential, Polynomial, Distance-Weighted least squares, Spline, and others.

Comprehensive facilities to fit to data (and interactively plot in two or three dimensions) user-defined functions of practically unlimited complexity are provided in the Nonlinear Estimation module.
