Description
In some environments LMI administrators may need to have static routes defined for when their LMI appliances are multi-homed on different subnets. This is especially true when using HA because the network that is used for data replication may be a private 192.168.x.x block while the node IPs and virtual IP of the cluster are on a separate network. In LMI versions up to and including 5.1.0 the ability to manage static routes is not provided in the web GUI and therefore managing them requires manually defining the routes at the OS level using the procedure below. Starting in 5.2.0 static routes can be managed on the Static Routes tab of the Administration->Network Settings page.
Issue/Introduction
This article explains how to add static routes to an LMI appliance directly in the network configuration files before it was supported via the web GUI.
Environment
Appliance to LMI versions prior to 5.2.0. Starting in 5.2.0 the LMI GUI supports setting static routes.
Resolution
1. SSH to the appliance as "toor". 2. Open the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local 3. Add routes to the end of this file. Example is below. 4. Execute the route commands now to activate the static routes to avoid rebooting. 5. Save the file. And you can reboot if you wish but it's not necessary if you executed the route commands already.
Example:
#!/bin/sh # # This script will be executed *after* all the other init scripts. # You can put your own initialization stuff in here if you don't # want to do the full Sys V style init stuff.
