Issue/Introduction

How to change the TIBCO Spotfire Server installation directory from one drive to another.

Resolution

Option 1:
----------
The recommended approach is to uninstall the Spotfire server from the current drive and then reinstall it on the other drive.

As the configuration is saved in the Spotfire database, the only files that you need to backup are bootstrap.xml (though it can be recreated using the Spotfire configuration tool) and any other files that you may have copied/configured for additional authentication methods. For example, krb5.conf and spotfire.keytab files if you have Kerberos implemented or the Certificate files if SSL is implemented. You can even make a backup of this Spotfire Server installation folder before uninstalling, if needed.

Option 2:
-----------
Copy the server folders from the source to the destination drive. Un-register the Spotfire Server Service and re-register it so that it points to the correct server location.

Here is a sample procedure to register/install the Spotfire server service:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Open a Command prompt with Administrator rights.
* Browse to the folder [Spotfire Server Install Dir]\tomcat\bin .
* Run the following command service.bat install
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Additional Information

You may refer the manual to create a new bootstrap.xml file.
