Issue/Introduction
How to compare two versions of a data configuration ?
Resolution
Provided a Statistica Enterprise environment has versioning enabled (SDMS) , the versions button will be enabled with the latest version number of the object displayed. To compare two versions of an enterprise object :
1. Click on the Versions button to bring up the Document history dialog.
2. Choose two versions by holding down the ctrl/shift key. Ensure only two versions are selected. Click on the compare button.
3. The version comparison dialog will summarize the changes between the two versions of the Enterprise configuration. The yellow indicates the most recent change and the red indicates the value in a previous version. For example below is a version comparison of a data configuration. The SQL changed in the newer version is captured along with the SQL in the older version.
4. The changes can be reviewed by clicking on Next change in the version comparison dialog to review what else was changed. In this below example, we see the field named Part was made into a label in the newer version of the data configuration.
5. The user may click on x in the version comparison dialog when he/she is done reviewing the changes. The user may now make an informed decision on whether the changes were as expected, if a version needs to be reverted to or approved or they may simply choose to close the document history dialog by clicking on the Close button.
