It is possible to use the NICDetect Tool to enable any disabled cards. The NICDetect Tool knowledge base article is How to use NICDetect tool to help with Statistica licensing problems. This can also be done via the Windows Control Panel as shown below.
How to enable network connections in Windows XP:
1. Open the Windows Control Panel by clicking on Start | Control Panel.
2. Open the "Network Connections" icon in Control Panel. The Control Panel will refresh to become the "Network Connections" window. If necessary, first open the "Network and Internet Connections" icon in Control panel, then choose "Network Connections" from within that screen.
3. The Network Connections window lists all Dial-up and LAN / High-Speed Internet connections installed. In the list of LAN / High Speed Internet connections, select the icon that corresponds to any of the desired network adapter to enable.
4. Right-click on the selected network connection. A pop-up menu appears. If the connection is currently enabled, the first option in this menu will be "Disable." Otherwise, the first menu option will be "Enable."
5. Select the "enable" menu option to enable the connection.
6. Repeat these steps for all of the LAN / High Speed Internet connections.
How to enable network adapters in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8/8.1:
1. Open the Windows Control Panel by clicking Start | Control Panel
2. Click "Network and Internet" then "Network and Sharing Center".
3. Click "Change adapter settings" on the left.
4. Right click on the disabled network adapter and select "Enable" at the top of the menu.
5. Repeat to enable all desired network adapters
