Description
When Spotfire Server is running as a Windows service, there is no direct way to find the min and max memory settings for this service. Using a simple command the Java memory settings set for the Spotfire server can be easily found out.
Issue/Introduction
This article lists down steps on how to find the Spotfire Server memory settings from its Windows service.
Resolution
Login to the machine where the Spotfire Server is installed.
Open a command prompt and browse to the tomcat\bin folder in the Spotfire Server installation directory (eg:- C:\tibco\tss\7.9.0\tomcat\bin).
Run the command - tomcat8w //ES//servicename
For 7.9 - tomcat8w //ES//Tss790
The servicename can also be retrieved from the properties of the "Tibco Spotfire Server 7.9.0" service listed in Windows Services. The default format is Tss followed by the version number. Running this command opens a properties dialog as shown in the attached screen shot (Filename: service_properties.jpg). The dialog's Java tab shows the min/max memory settings that are currently set for this Spotfire Server instance. The Spotfire Server memory settings can also be edited from this dialog.
