Description

The "Attribute Building" module generates 'WoE' trend graph. The trend graph has weight of evidence on the Y-axis and categories (grouped by value of the continuous predictor) on the X-axis. This article shows how to create a graph using mean value of categories of the regrouped continuous predictor on the X axis.

Resolution

An example of WoE trend graph generated from the "Attribute Building" module is shown as below: The variable "Age" regrouped to different categories is shown on the X axis and the weight of evidence for each age category is shown on the Y axis.

And the WoE table for categorized variable "Age“ can be also found in the output of "Attribute Building" module.

To use the mean of each age category as the X-axis:

1.  In the original input data, add a new variable (e.g. "Age_group") that has the corresponding "Age_Categ" level for each row based on the classification rule used in WoE table for age.

2. When the new variable "Age_group" is added to the input data, click Statistics|Basic Statistics|"Breakdown: non-factorial tables" to prompt the "Statistics BreakDown (non-factorial)" analysis dialog.

3. Under Quick tab, click "Variables" to select "Age" as the Dependent variable and newly created "Age-group" as the Grouping variable. deselect "Include total(All Groups) row" from Options.

4. Under Descriptives tab, select "Mean" and click "Summary" to generate the breakdown table.

5. Merge the breakdown table from step #4 with the WoE table for Age that is generated from "Attribute Building" module by matching the age category level. KB128499 shows "How to merge two STATISTICA Spreadsheets in Interactive Mode?"

6.  When the newly merged variable is active, select Graph|2D|"Bar/Column plots..." to prompt the graph dialog.

7. Under Quick tab, click "Variables" to select "WoE weight of evidence" as the Bar/Column variable

8. Under "Options 1" tab, select "Variable" as "Case labels:" and  click "Variable" to select "Age_group" as the display variable.
