Issue/Introduction

How to migrate a TIBCO Spotfire Server to a new machine

Resolution

  1. Stop the TIBCO Spotfire Server on current box and take a full back up as mentioned in the TIBCO Spotfire Server installation manual:
  2. Install TIBCO Spotfire Server on the new server machine as per the instructions mentioned in the following link:
  3. If you are using same Spotfire database, make sure you use the exact same database hostname, username and passwords for the new machine in the bootstrap.xml. Otherwise, please take a backup of current Spotfire database, migrate it to the new one and then update the bootstrap.xml with the required database hostname, username and passwords. Note that If encryption password is already specified in current box, use the same password. If you do not know the old encryption password, then you'll have to re-save all data sources and re-save the Spotfire server configuration so that all passwords can be saved in the database using the new encryption password.
  4. Start up the newly created TIBCO Spotfire Server service to make sure it starts and that you can logon
  5. If you have any custom authentication filters or jdbc drivers in any of the following locations, then please ensure to copy them from the old file system to the new file system:
    •   [server install dir]\server\tomcat\webapps\spotfire\WEB-INF\lib
    •   [server install dir]\\tomcat\custom-ext
  6. Restart the TIBCO Spotfire Server service and test logging in.
