How to move between TIBCO Cloud Spotfire and on-premise Spotfire installations

Description

When moving from an on-premise installation of Spotfire to the hosted TIBCO Cloud Spotfire (TCS), or from TCS to an on-premise installation of Spotfire, it will be necessary to move analysis files from one system to the other.

Issue/Introduction

How to move files between the TIBCO-hosted TIBCO Cloud Spotfire (TCS) environment an an on-premise Spotfire installation.

Resolution

There is currently no automated way to move analysis files to or from the hosted TCS environment.  Users will need to open the files that are to be moved, save them locally, then when the new environment is available they can save them to the new library.

Step 1: Save files locally
In the Spotfire Analyst client:

  1. Click on Spotfire Library > Home, navigate to and then double-click on file to open
  2. Click on File > Save As > File to save file as a DXP locally

In the Business Author web client:

  1. Click on Spotfire Library > Home, navigate to and then double-click on file to open
  2. Click on File > Download as DXP file to save the file locally


Step 2: Save files to new Library
In the Spotfire Analyst client

  1. Click on Browse local file, then double-click on file to open
  2. Click on File > Save As > Library item to save file to the new library

In the Business Author web client:

  1. Click on Browse local file, then double-click on file to open
  2. In the upper right hand corner, click on the drop-down to change mode from 'Viewing' to 'Editing'
  3. Click on File > Save As > Library item to save file to the new Library


Note: This does NOT apply to TIBCO Spotfire Cloud Enterprise (TSCE).
