When running analyses Statistica, all options and output choices are automatically recorded; when you create a macro, the complete recording of all your actions is translated into a Statistica Visual Basic program that can be run to recreate the analysis. There are basically two types of macro recording: simple macro and master macro. The instructions for simple macro recording can be located here. This article will focus on master macro recording.

To Start a master macro recording:

1. Click Home | Macro | "Start Recording Log of Analyses (Master Macro)..." and the floating Record toolbar will be displayed.

2. After completing all analysis tasks, stop recording in Record toolbar.

3. A New Macro dialog will be prompted, name the macro and click "OK".

4. The recorded master macro will be displayed in the program editor.The Master Macro can then be further edited, saved, or run as is to duplicate the exact sequence of analyses that was performed during recording.

5. Click Home | Save to save the macro.
