Description

It is not widely known that LogLogic LMI appliances can be upgraded via the CLI. The CLI is the root user interface. This procedure is sometimes required such as in situations where a problem with the web GUI prevents an update from working correctly.

Issue/Introduction

This article explains how to upgrade an LMI appliance via the CLI.

Resolution

1. Upload the following files (using WinSCP or scp) as usual to the LogLogic appliance's /loglogic/update directory.

  • update-xxxxx-full.tar.bz2
  • update-xxxxx-full.tar.bz2.sig

2.  SSH to the appliance as the root, not toor, user.

3. Execute the following:

> system update

4.  Choose an update file from the list:

0: update-xxxxx-full.tar.bz2

1: exit

>> 0

Extracting update.

Upgrade in progress.  Please wait.

This method will produce the same results as running the file update via the Web UI. You are also able to monitor the upgrade which can be a valuable benefit.
