Description

XML data source files cannot be directly loaded into TIBCO Spotfire Analyst/Client. TIBCO Data Virtualization(TDV/ADS) product can be used as a middle layer between the XML data source and TIBCO Spotfire. In TDV, locate the XML data source and do a transformation into tabular form, so that it can be loaded into TIBCO Spotfire.

Below are the summarized steps to create XML data source inside TIBCO Data Virtualization(TDV/ADS):

A) Open TIBCO Data Virtualization(TDV/Composite Studio) and inside the new physical data source dialog, select File-XML as a data source adapter.
B)  Now click on Next button. A new window will pop up in which either you can locate an XML data source file from the local file system or you can select URL option if the XML data source file is present on a network.
C) Click on "Create & Introspect" button.A new window will pop up in which you can select the XML file to be used as a data source if multiple XML files have been loaded.
D) Click on Next button & then Finish button. If you want to use the created data source inside TIBCO Spotfire then you have to add a new transformation.
E)  From the resource tree, right-click and select New Transformation, or select File > New > Transformation. Different type of transformation will appear on your screen.
F)  Use, XML to Tabular Mapping transformation. Locate and select an appropriate XML source for the transformation in the displayed tree.
G) Type a name for the transformation in the Transformation Name field & then click on finish.
H) Right click on the transformed file & click ‘Publish’. Select the folder where you want to publish it with the appropriate name & click ‘OK”. Now XML data source is ready to be used in TIBCO Spotfire.
