This knowledge base article describes the steps to view or count licenses assigned to every group or user in TIBCO Spotfire Server.

Issue/Introduction

This article describes how to use the show-licenses command in TIBCO Spotfire Server to view/count licenses assigned per group or user

Environment

Resolution

- Login to the Spotfire server machine.
- Launch a command prompt with Administrator rights and browse to Spotfire Server installation folder.
e.g: <spotfire server installation folder>\tomcat\bin folder for TIBCO Spotfire Server version 10.2 and lower and
<spotfire server installation folder>\tomcat\spotfire-bin for TIBCO Spotfire Server version 10.3 and higher

- Run the following command: 
config.bat show-licenses --expand-groups=true

- When it prompts you to enter the configuration password, please enter the configuration tool password
- This command will generate a text file under \tomcat\logs folder (licenses_report_DATE). 
- Depending on how many users/groups you have, it may take a while to get this report.
- You can open the generated text file in TIBCO Spotfire Analysts and analyze the results.
