Description
Installing our Power BI client driver (for TIBCO Data Virtualization) will launch the Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable package needed to support the Power BI driver. It will then prompt you to reboot Windows afterwards.
Question: Is this reboot necessary?
Issue/Introduction
This concerns a message seen during installation of our PBI driver.
Resolution
No, a reboot is not required by us.
The reboot prompt is coming directly from the MS C++ runtime setup. It is outside of TIBCO's control since the installer will then launch Microsoft's C++ installer. The Microsoft installer may prompt to reboot but it is not required to restart Windows for the Power BI driver to function.
The Microsoft C++ Redistributable package only needs to be installed once. Subsequent installs of newer Power BI drivers will identify that the C++ Redistributable package is already installed on the machine and will not launch the installer for it again.
