Summary:  Method for properly installing the updated Microsoft Excel Driver for ODBC in TIBCO Scribe Insight if receiving an error when trying to connect to an excel workbook

When using the Excel ODBC Driver when connecting to a newer excel file you may encounter the below error

Error Message

This error indicates you are using the older Microsoft Excel Driver or the newer Excel Driver was not installed properly and you will need to download and/or correctly reinstall the updated driver.

Issue/Introduction

Method for properly installing the updated Microsoft Excel Driver for ODBC in TIBCO Scribe Insight if receiving an error when trying to connect to an excel workbook

Resolution

In order to download the latest driver you will need to follow the steps below. (If only reinstalling the new Driver, first uninstall the Microsoft Access Database Engine then skip to step 4)

1. Navigate to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=54920
2. Download the 32bit Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016
3. Once downloaded locate the AccessDatabaseEngine.exe
4. Open up an elevated command prompt and execute the AccessDatabaseEngine.exe in "/passive" modeCMD passive prompt
5. Navigate through the install prompts
6. Once installed create a new ODBC Excel connection to your workbook using the new driver.

The error should not re appear and the connection should be established.
