Description

When installing the Web Player or Automation Services from within the Nodes & Services section after upgrading the Spotfire Server, we may encounter the following error with not much details:

  "Internal Server Error"

Issue/Introduction

"Internal Server Error" when installing Web Player or Automation Services after upgrade

Environment

Windows / Linux Operating Systems

Resolution

One of the reasons for this error is that the compatible client deployment packages haven't been deployed on the Spotfire Server under 'Deployments & Packages'

Example:
If the Spotfire Server was upgraded from version 7.8 to 7.11, the Deployments & Packages section will still have the old deployment packages (7.8) and so installing new services (Web Player or Automation Services) may fail.  To resolve this, deploy the latest deployment packages relevant to the upgraded Spotfire Server version and then install any service (Web Player or Automation Services).
