Description
When connecting to Hadoop Hive table or joining multiple hive tables, the data does not load in Spotfire and the following error message might occur:
ERROR [HY000] [Hortonworks][Hardy] (35) Error from server: error code: '0' error message: 'ExecuteStatement finished with operation state: ERROR_STATE'
Issue/Introduction
This article describes cause and resolution of the following error while connecting to Hive Data Source from Spotfire:
Error from server: error code: '0' error message: 'ExecuteStatement finished with operation state: ERROR_STATE'
Resolution
This issue is caused by the HiveServer2 failing to execute a MapReduce Local Task and it does not seem bound to queries submitted through ODBC. To resolve, work with your Hadoop administrator to ensure that provided user has permissions to access the table and join multiple tables.
