Description

LogLogic LMI's use of the Centera API does not contain a delete command for manually removing individual files stored on Centera storage. The following command can be used to retrieve individual files but, as can be seen in the usage information, it does not provide a mechanism for deleting files:

Logapp root:/loglogic/cgibin 0$ ./rtcenterafile -help

Usage: ./rtcenterafile [options]

        -h|--help to display this message

        -d|--debug n debug level

-o|--outfile out put file, (default location:/loglogic/tmp/)

-c|--clipid C-ClipId of the file to be downloaded

-f|--filename The name of the file to be downloaded

This does not mean LogLogic LMI cannot delete files from Centera however. The engine_archive process has the capability to use the Centera API for purging individual files based on clip ID. This occurs automatically after the data ages out of retention. This is the only method by which data can be deleted from Centera. This helps ensure data is not accidentally deleted from Centera.

Issue/Introduction

This article explains why manually deleting files from Centera storage is not supported in LogLogic LMI.

Environment

Starting in LMI version 6.3.0 the Centera storage device is no longer supported.
