TIBCO Data Virtualization 7.0.8 and higher

Description

Beginning with version 7.0.8, the TIBCO Data Virtualization installer no longer includes the vendor's JDBC drivers that support the Oracle and Sybase datasource adapters.  This is due to TIBCO's licensing policies, but the adapters themselves remain unchanged.

Attempted creation of a new Oracle or Sybase datasource in the Studio will return an error prompting to install the drivers first.

Issue/Introduction

This discusses the 3rd party drivers used by TDV.

Resolution

New installs of TDV may* require you to provide the JDBC driver .jar files from Oracle or Sybase in order to activate the respective adapters, as is similarly required for some of the other out-of-box adapters .

Note: Migrations into new TDV installs with a full backup .car file will provide the new installation with any 3rd party .jar files that were originally stored under the source instance's /conf/adapters/<adapter name> directory, thus activating your adapters after importing the .car file.

Additional Information

Reference: TIBCO Data Virtualization Administration Guide has detailed information about obtaining and installing any 3rd party drivers.
