TIBCO Scribe Insight -

Description

A Query Publisher enables you to connect to a data source and publish any modified data as XML in a message queue. This can be used to capture new, changed, and deleted records from any source system. The Query Publisher captures changed data by querying a source system for certain criteria, typically checking a modified flag or modified date/time stamp. The results of the query are published as messages (individually or grouped) in the ScribeIn queue for integration with another system.

Query Publishers generate XML messages that are sent to the ScribeIn, ScribeRetry, and the ScribeDeadmessage Queues.  If the Publishers are processing large numbers of records, then the collective size may exceed the storage limit set on the Queues causing retry errors.

Issue/Introduction

If there are too many XML messages waiting to be processed, the TIBCO Scribe® Insight Query publisher may time out with the following error: Failed x time(s) - retry pending after xx minute(s)

Resolution

  1. Open Computer Management on the Windows Server supporting TIBCO Scribe® Insight.
  2. Expand Services and Applications > Message Queuing > Private Queues.
  3. Right-click each of the ScribeIn, ScribeRetry, and the ScribeDeadmessage Queues and select Properties.
  4. On the Properties dialog, the default storage limit is 1 GB.  Try doubling the limit to 2 GB and see if the Query Publishers run without error.

NOTE: If the Queues are very full you can uncheck the box next to Limit message storage to (KB) on the Properties dialog to help clear out the backlog of messages more quickly.  Later, set it back to a storage limit that supports the processing requirements.
