Description
Using a connector to SAP HANA via ODBC together with TIBCO Spotfire Server one can result in the error:
An error occurred in the external data source. External error: ERROR [HY000] [SAP AG][LIBODBCHDB DLL][HDBODBC] General error;1033 error while parsing protocol
Issue/Introduction
The "1033 error while parsing protocol" is usually an error due to an inability to map a user in Hana.
Resolution
This is an external error with SAP HANA cross table ID. Which is usually indicating an inability to map user in HANA e.g. no HANA user mapped to the external id in the connection.
The 1033 error is an error you can get from SAP HANA when the identity has not been able to be matched in a cross table in HANA. The error is thus coming from HANA and should most likely be fixed in SAP, at least if we are assuming that the correct identity is sent from Spotfire.
