Description
Using the Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) browser for accessing analysis files in the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player may result in some operations being slower than seen in other browsers. This includes report loading time, navigation to other pages, rendering of visualization after filtering operation, etc. At the same time, the same interactions in other browsers like Chrome or Firefox may work faster.
Issue/Introduction
This article describes the reason why in certain scenarios Internet Explorer browser is slower than other browsers like Chrome
Resolution
This is expected when using the Internet Explorer browser. IE is an older browser (Microsoft Edge is the default browser for Windows operating system currently) that is not getting any continuous development and upgrades from Microsoft with regards to performance and support for new feature in the Javascript standard. On the other hand, Chrome or Firefox have received recent performance updates and support for new features. So for example, Chrome is considerably faster than IE in all operations and the result is that web pages that contain lots of graphics and execution of Javascript (like can be seen when accessing Spotfire reports in the Web Player) render noticeably slower in IE than in Chrome.
