Description

In certain cases, changes made to the columns at the source database are not reflected in Spotfire Information Designer.  For example, if any new columns are added or if the column names are changed for the existing columns at the database, Spotfire Information Designer will not reflect these changes.

Issue/Introduction

Spotfire Information Designer doesn't reflect the changes made to the columns at the database

Resolution

This issue is encountered when using TIBCO DataDirect JDBC Drivers for data sources. These drivers are recommended only for testing connectivity and should not be used for production environments.

Solution 1:
To resolve this behavior, change the JDBC driver and the data source template that is used for the data source connections from TIBCO DataDirect to the database vendor's own JDBC driver.

Solution 2:
If you want to continue using the current driver, you can edit and re-save the data source in Information Designer. Please note that the data source will not have save enabled unless you modify a setting, so to enable the Save button you can change a value like the max number of connections for example and then set it back to its original value to enable the Save button.
