Description

Spotfire Server Service or Spotfire Server Node Manager Server Service fails to start after the machine hosting these applications is restarted. You may see an error like the following:

Error 1069: The service did not start due to a login failure

Note: You may see this error even though the password for the domain account used to run the services has not changed.

Issue/Introduction

Spotfire Server or Spotfire Node Manager Server services fail to start after server reboot.

Resolution

This can happen if the service account does not have the necessary rights to start the service. Entering the password for the service account to run the service will typically update the service accounts rights in the machine’s Local Group Policy. In certain scenarios (i.e., Machine Reboot), these local settings will be overwritten by the domains Group Policy, which will deter the service account to start the service. To resolve the issue, update the "Domain Group Policy" and  explicitly grant the service user the “Log on as a service” right.

Note: As a workaround, you may reenter the password for the service account. However, this may fail if the machine is rebooted or if the Domain Group Policies overwrite the local policies.
