It is recommended to try each stage in succession until the installer runs to completion:
STAGE 11. Uninstall all versions of Statistica if possible.
2. Delete all of the StatSoft folders under Program Files.
3. Close out of all running programs. Navigate to the temp directory (type %temp% into the Windows Explorer address bar or in the Run... box). Delete all files and folders in the temp folder but do not delete the temp folder itself.
4. Install all Windows Updates.
5. Restart the computer.
6. Temporarily disable UAC (User Account Control).
7. Temporarily disable any anti-virus or anti-spyware programs. (In some cases, the IT staff needs to configure the anti-virus, anti-spyware, or other security application to allow Statistica to install successfully).
8. Re-run the Statistica installation (as an Administrator).
STAGE 21. From an admin command prompt, run the following commands (the first two commands may not return a message).
a. Msiexec /unregister
b. Msiexec /regserver
c. REGSVR32 MSI.DLL
2. Ensure that the 'Windows Modules Installer' service is set to Manual (or Automatic) for the 'Startup Type' and is not set to Disabled. You can find the list of services in Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services.
3. Restart the computer and re-run the Statistica installation (as an Administrator).
STAGE 3If the installer still does not finish, get the STATMSI.Log and analyze it for any error codes. Most of the error codes found in the installer log can be searched for on the internet since they will be standard MSI errors. Most times this can lead to a solution. To find the install log file, click Start | Run and type %temp%. In the temp folder, find STATMSI.log.
Also search the TIBCO knowledge base for the installation error.
STAGE 4In extreme cases, it may be necessary to capture a Process Monitor log (see the knowledge base article
How to use Process Monitor for troubleshooting Statistica) and provide that along with a STATMSI.log from the same installation. It is important that the Process Monitor log and the StatMSI.log be from the same installer run so that the time stamps will match when we analyze them.
