Description
This article shows the typical server architecture of TIBCO Data Science(TDS) Author +Operations : TIBCO Statistica server/TDS Workbench Enterprise deployment
NOTE: The actual server architecture diagram could differ based on the size of the deployment and the business use case(s). The architecture diagram represents a single environments. Deployments may have several such environments as required. Depending on the scale of deployment, several of the servers represented below may not exist or may not exist separately. Depending on the business criticality, these servers may be clustered of may not. This does not account for Citrix Servers, database servers, Spotfire Servers and other third party servers that could also be part of the deployment
Resolution
Prior to Statistica version 14, the server architecture may look like this :
Some of the components are described in detail below :
Statistica License Server : Statistica's license server sends a heartbeat to all Statistica components to ensure that they are all licensed. WebStatistica (or Statistica Application/Batch Server) : Statistica’s thin client that can be used to run and schedule analyses over the network. This allows for batch scoring. Monitoring and alerting Server ( MAS) : Statistica’s automated monitoring of analysis configurations that can alarm in case of defined events Live Score : Statistica’s prediction engine that can use models deployed and score based on inputs. (Note that Live score and WebStatistica cannot be installed on the same server) Statistica Data Entry : The data entry portal that allows for data from manufacturing lines to be entered directly into Statistica - making the data readily available for processing and analysing Statistica Document Management System (SDMS) :Statistica’s versioning tool that can seamlessly integrates with Statistica Enterprise and that can also be used independently by itself. The versioning tool allows for audit control and ensuring that only approved versions of analyses and models are used.
Version 14.0 and higher switch to in place versioning, eliminating the need for a separate SDMS (Statistica Document Management System) Server.
Statistica version 14 comes with Statistica portable that can be executed on the SDMS Server. This will launch an SDMS migration utility that will transfer all the SDMS content to the database. The user can start the SDMS database migration utility several times as required before completely deciding to switch to in place versioning. Once in-place versioning is in place, the SDMS servers may be decommissioned. This is represented below :
The revised architecture diagram with version 14 could overall be represented as illustrated below :
