Description

When configuring the standby LMI and you check watchqueue page 4 you'll notice that both primary and standby show OUT OF CLUSTER.  Looking in the /var/log/sys.log you see the error below:

<14>Jun  6 19:00:59 logapp1 MGMT: %LOGLOGIC-6 module:engine_cluster_membership(17613);  file:receiver.c(validateClient,150);  action:Connection refused - incompatible appliances [Platform 1] [Platform 2] ;

Issue/Introduction

This article explains why HA configuration fails with "incompatible appliances" error.

Environment

HA between MX, LX, ST, MXVirtual, STVirtual or LXVirtual

Resolution

HA cannot be enabled using two different platforms. For EVAs the /etc/platform file can be modified to be another "virtual" platform type so if you are using 2 EVAs then change one of them to match the other (this restarts an mtask stop and start) then re-enable HA. Changing the platform file on physical appliances is not supported.
