Description

If the appliance is unavailable and all lights are red on the front panel then this is an indication that the OS is running fsck after a reboot. fsck will take a while to complete but afterward the application should start as long as the fsck didn't find any major issues that require manual intervention.

 How long will fsck take?

This will vary depending on the number of files in /loglogic/data/vol1 and the number of tables in the various parsed data databases in /loglogic/data/. The amount of data, as measured in bytes, will not have a bearing on the duration of the file system check but rather the number of files dictates how long it will take. This is because the fsck is checking file system meta data, not the data itself. The file system metadata is only stored in each file's inode information. Each file has one inode regardless of how much data is in the file. The fsck can take about 1 minute for every 100,000 inodes but various factors affects this so this is only a rough guide.

Issue/Introduction

This article explains what could be the cause when an appliance is unavailable and all the disks' lights are red.
