Description

In GridServer 3.2, Engine logs are generated by default; in earlier versions of GridServer, Engines do not generate log files; messages generated are sent to stdout, but otherwise are not saved. However, if you need to monitor or debug a program, you can configure an Engine to generate log files. Also, you can monitor these logs in real-time via your Web browser and the GridServer Administration Tool.
To generate log files on Engines on pre-3.2 versions of GridServer, you must configure the Engines:
1. In the GridServer Administration tool, click the Engine tab, then click Engine Configuration.
2. Select a distribution from the Distribution list. This determines what Engines will be configured.
3. In the Log section, set File Enabled to True.
4. Optionally, change any of the other values in the Log section to change the amount of information saved to logs.
5. Click Save.
After you have configured one or more Engines to generate logs, you can view them remotely. To do this, go to the Engine Admin or Engine Daemon Admin pages, and select the Log URL List action from the Actions control. This will display a list of all logs available on that Engine. The action on the Engine Daemon Admin page will also display log files for all instances running on a single machine.
