If the Oracle server is 8.1.7 but the client software that the InConcert will use is Oracle 9.2 what do you pick when you do the InConcert installation? To get the installation to work you must pick the Oracle 9.2 software for the InConcert server to use. This will hold true as long as the database vendor says that a database client can use a later version of their database client software to talk to an older database version.
NOTE - QA is not going to test this configuration. If something does not work the customer must then get the correct client version of the database software to match what the database server is. So yes we will tell the customer how to do it but no we are not going to promise it will work or that we will fix things if it does not work.
