Resolution:
With HotFix 5 of BW 5.1.2, you can specify namespace prefixes used by each process definition for XML rendering.
This has the added benefit of putting all of the namespaces at the root of the XML document, which can simplify the appearance and size of the document in certain cases.
You have to do two things to enable this:
1. Highlight a specific process definition and then click the Namespace button in the configuration pane for the process definition. Here is where you set your desired prefixes for each namespace.
2. On the specific activity you want to affect, go to the input pane of the mapper and highlight the root element and choose 'edit statement'. Check the Exclude Result Prefixes box. You can also add a whitespace separated list of namespaces (by prefix) that you don't want to appear in the output, assuming they are not required.
