Description
Description: Symptoms ======== It takes an extra long time (up to 5 hours) to connect TIBCO Rendezvous 7.4.0 or 7.4.1 rvrds as neighbors on an AIX (with windows scaling disabled) machine and an HP-UX machine. The issue occurs when the AIX rvrd is up and running and the HP-UX rvrd is stopped and restarted. In this scenario the neighbors will not connect quickly and may take up to 5 hours to establish a connection with one another.
Impact ====== Loss of functionality for an extended period of time.
Workaround ========== The current workaround is to have the HP-UX rvrd up and running and then start the AIX rvrd.
Cause ===== With RV 7.4.0 we fixed a defect that prevents daemons from using windows scaling correctly.
This caused RV on HP-UX to encounter the following defect:
http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-0782/ch01s08.html (last row of the table)
8606377902 (fixed for TOUR 2.3)
“An HP-UX system advertises an incorrect window size, when an HP-UX system initiates a TCP connection with the window scaling option and with a window size of 65535 bytes, and if the remote host does not respond with the window scaling option in the SYN/ACK packet.”
As RV 7.3.0 and earlier versions did not allow windows scaling we did not run into this HP-UX defect. Also, if the AIX machine had windows scaling enabled you would not encounter this problem.
Resolution ========= There are two possible solutions here:
1) Upgrade the HP-UX machine with the TOUR 2.4 bundle. To install the TOUR 2.4 bundle or to verify the current TOUR version on your HP-UX machine, please visit the following site:
