Description
Resolution: Whenever the connection to the LDAP Server is lost the LDAP Adapter tries to re-establish the same connection to the LDAP server during reconnect attempts.
The following is the behavior of the LDAP Adapter when the SunOne Directory Server has been configured in the Load Balanced mode:-
Firstly it should be noted that the adapter by itself does not perform any load balancing of the LDAP servers. Generally in a load balanced server scenario, any request to the LDAP Server (say Sun One) is redirected to one of the load balanced servers as per the set algorithm.
Hence, any application communicating with Sun One (like LDAP adapter) need not know what the load balanced servers are, it will always send requests to one configured Sun One server which acts as a proxy and in turn will do the load balancing and redirect the request to appropriate server. When we say that the adapter tries to re-establish the same connection, it means that adapter uses the same source IP and source port used during initial connection.
If one of the load balanced servers fails Sun One itself will take care of redirecting the requests to another healthy server. This means that the adapter will get a server down error only when all the servers used by Sun One for load balancing fail. It is only in this case that the adapter will try to reconnect.
