Resolution:
SAP R/3 Application is independent of the underlying Database - Drivers are provided to interact with different DBs like Oracle, SQL Server etc.The SAP Adapter interacts with the BAPI/RFC/IDocs which are present in the SAP Application.The SAP Application then interacts with the underlying database.
As there is no direct interaction between the SAP Adapter and the underlying database. All the database versions supported by the SAP R/3 Application are supported by the adapter too.
