Description
Resolution: Solaris 10 introduced a virtualization concept called containers. Each container is a virtual instance of the entire Solaris environment, and thus a virtual machine.
SmartSockets treats Solaris containers as though they were not present, that is, SmartSocktes is supported on Solaris when running within Solaris 10 containers, subject to several conditions:
-- SmartSockets has not been engineered or tested specifically for performance with Solaris containers.
-- SmartSockets engineering and support are not expert on Solaris containers, and are not in a position to provide customers with recommendations for container specific tuning.
-- Issues that are not reproducible on Solaris in a container-free configuration will necessarily be referred to Sun for resolution.
At this time we are not aware of any issues relating to running SmartSockets within Solaris containers. ========================
In summary, we do not foresee issues running SmartSockets in a Solaris containers environment yet we haven't QA’d the product under this environment. In the event you encounter a problem that we cannot reproduce, you will need to reproduce it without Solaris containers before we can pursue it further.
