Description

Description:
When the IERS announces that a leap second will be added there should be no impact to TIBCO products. Most TIBCO products are C/C++ and/or Java based and utilize operating system and/or JVM facilities that provide the system time. Please directly contact your operating system or JVM vendor for further details specific to the systems you are using.

For many TIBCO products, system time stamp information is used during various logging activities. The time stamp is passed through as is. If operating systems and JVMs are leap second aware, they could report a time element of XX:59:60 during the leap second, or they might repeat a time element of XX:59:59 during the leap second depending on how they synchronize with time signals.
There is the potential for issues to arise with programs or applications built using TIBCO products (or any other products)  that validate the time element and could unexpectedly have a value of 60 in the seconds field of a time element if they were not developed to be leap second aware. Customers will need to investigate their own applications and determine for themselves whether there is any potential risk with leap seconds in the applications they have built.
