During installation of TRA 5.5.4, the user does not have enough disk space in the /tmp directory, therefore, they used the option  -is:tempdir &ltuser_temp>  to redirect the extraction to &ltuser_temp> as seen below. However, the user still saw the extraction of files under /tmp from the installation log and their installation failed.

TRA 5.5.4 and 5.6 both include the RV 8.1.0 universal installer which is still using the system temp folder (/tmp) as a temporary directory irrespective of the -is:tempdir command specified with TRA 5.5.4. Currently, there is no other way to redirect the universal installer temp folder.

This causes the lack of disk space being logged in the installer log which is detailed at the  end of this Solution.

Note that this space problem is sometimes reported as "rvd does NOT exist." seen from the installer GUI.

For TRA 5.5.4 and 5.6 the temp space requirements need to be satisfied both in the TRA 5.5.4 and RV 8.1.x installation documentation.

Solution

The current solution is to make sure the system temp (/tmp) and user_temp (if
“-is:tempdir” is used) both have enough space (&gt150MB for the universal installer) before installing TRA 5.5.4 and 5.6.

The directory /tmp/istemp507924021101412 does not contain enough space to extract temporary files. Please specify a temporary directory using the -is:tempdir option. Use the -is:help option for more information.

During installation of TRA 5.5.4 and 5.6, enough disk space is required in both the /tmp and redirected directory if "-is:tempdir" is used.
