Resolution:
In order to have your BW properties effective in AMX, you need to add them to bwengine.xml (BW_HOME/lib/com/tibco/deployment/directory). After making changes to the bwengine.xml file, recreate the EAR file and SA file. After uploading the SA zip file into the AMX admin GUI, you should be able to see that the properties have been exposed in the AMX Administrator under the tab Service Units/BW settings. The value of the property can be changed from the AMX admin GUI.
