How to make sure the engine always waits for job completion or checkpoints? We have set "Wait For Checkpoint" to true and "Kill Jobs Timeout" to 30 seconds on the service instance. However, the engine shuts down immediately when we select the running service instance and press the "Kill" button in the Admin GUI.

Resolution

The graceful shutdown feature is implemented through TIBCO Administrator. It requires a shutdown command to be sent to the running engine. This is done either by selecting the running instance and pressing the "STOP" button in the Admin GUI or by invoking the "AppManage -stop"' command line utility. It does not work when a kill signal is sent, be it from the command line or from the "Kill" button of TIBCO Admin GUI itself. It can not be expected to work in the case of an engine crash or Kill.
