Resolution:
REST is an architectiural style rather than a standard. It proposes how to implement webservices using known standards such as HTTP, XML etc,. as opposed to SOAP, WSDL.
Both of these standards ( HTTP, XML) are supported by BW, so BW now supports REST Services.
