Description:
============
The Generation Data Group (GDG) definition for the spin process can lead to spin data loss.

Environment:
============
All z/OS OSB customers using continuous backup.

Symptoms:
=========
The symptoms of this problem are continuous backup generation failing in the pointer checker process.

Cause:
======
The supplied definition for the SPIN dataset GDG keeps 10 versions of the spin dataset.
Using the normal spin/merge process this is sufficient but if the customer modifies the process such that the merge is done less frequently only the latest 10 spin datasets are kept and data is lost.

Resolution:
===========
Modify the spin, and all GDG definitions, to retain ALL the datasets until specifically deleted.
